As readers of Dirt Rag magazine have likely noticed, the Emmitsburg trails were featured in the latest issue. The article was well-written by a former Emmitsburg resident, Brice Shirbach. The article is worth a read and the trails are worth a ride.
Recently they have become a favorite place for me to go riding with my son. Our beloved Watershed is just a bit too much for our combined efforts, so when we ride together I head a few minutes north. I have grown to really enjoy the variety offered by the trail system.
The trails themselves were cut by crews at the Trail Conservancy and Elevated Trail Design. If the name Elevated Trail Design rings a bell you may know them from their work on the Frederick Pump Track.
Many thanks to Commissioner O’Donnell for his many years of effort on this project. You can get more information on the trails here. Please note that the trails are only open on Sundays during hunting season which runs September through February.
SAVE the date: we will be celebrating these great trails by hosting a ride and Specialized demo on April 3rd. We hope to have the author of the article present for the event.
P.S. The fine folks at Dirt Rag also enjoy our beer. Flying Dog’s Easy IPA got a tip of the hat in the same issue. Go Frederick!!!
