Distance: 36-40 miles
Terrain: Mostly hard packed clay and crushed stone and flat.

What to Bring:

  1. A cross bike or mountain bike with 35 cc tires or greater (recommended)
  2. At least $2 in Cash for the ferry ride over and back (no cash, no crossing, ride over or wet portage)
  3. Cash or credit card to purchase brunch.
  4. Tool kit with spare tube and patches, levers, pump, multi-tool, etc.
  5. Water
  6. An energy bar or gels, etc.
  7. A camera to record the fun

Directions to Point of Rocks (start of ride):

I-495 Beltway to I-270. Follow I-270 to Frederick, MD, then take Rt. 15 South to Point of Rocks. Turn left into small town, and immediately turn right again. Follow road behind houses, and over train tracks. Parking area is underneath the Rt. 15 bridge. Trail begins heading downstream following Potomac River.
